Kefaya activists arrested on protesting farce amendments
Update: 29 activists are taken to al- Galaa Court Complex to stand in front of prosecutor. This scenario resembles recent MB detentions and provious round up of Kefaya activists during judges support protest
Malek explains Kefaya web was featuring temp problems and now updated and detailed news is on Kefaya main page. 12 activists released, according to Alaa, the rest, 29 activists, are taken to court
Detailed report and photos at Hamalawy’s blog and Alaa promises to post his insights soon
Update 11:50pm Cairo Time: Alaa’s list is accurate and verified. 3 activists were released. All the rest (31) are now in Al Daher police station and there is no sign on their release. Alaa is outside police station now and says he & lawyers are unable to contact detained activists or get info on their condition
Kefaya had the arrest news on its main page two hours ago and now it vanished! What’s wrong with you guys?

Khaled Abdel Hamid was with me on the phone last night.. He said “I will take care of your cat, don’t worry”.. I laughed and said “that is if you stay out of jail”.. we both giggled
“I will never tell you not to go” I said “If I was there, I would go myself. Even when Sharqawi was fresh out of prison last May I never advised him to stay home”. n
His sms came 15 minutes before the protest “el 2mn kter 2wy wm2fl eldnya. ana ray7 midan elt7rir”. Then, no further contact. Second sms came from Alaa short and to the point “Arrests, check my blog“. I called Hamalawy who confirmed the news and said security presence reminds him of 20th March, 2003
Minutes before, Samuel, my fellow Egyptian here in DC was saying “they [Mubarak administration] are not stupid. They want the farce constitutional amendment to pass quietly and therefore will circle the protesters so no one in the street would see or hear them, then they would let them go after couple of hours. They don’t even need to beat them”. I told him they are completely unpredictable. There could be many factors to a street action like if the Muslim Brothers are joining or not, the numbers of protesters, street support, … . You may sum, add or combine factors and try to make any sense out of anything.. but the Mubarak administration remains unpredictable and undermining its stupidity doesn’t really help
Reading the list at Alaa’s blog I stopped breathing. I have been also reading lists for days and days at Abdel Monem blog – ana ikhwan and everyday carries more numbers and faces behind bars
The day will come when I will read the name list of government officials and state security generals held accountable for their crimes
Mr. Mubarak. Your suggested constitution is farce and you already know it. It wouldn’t hurt your aging delicate ears to hear it once more in Tahrir Square – would it? You sell yourself internationally as a secular regime while you impose on us article II of the constitution and use it to discriminate against Copts, Baha’is, other Egyptian citizens and Abdel Kereem
You sell yourself locally as a religious government while you crush the Muslim Brotherhood. You make sense no more! n
Your day will come
PS: apologies, no arabic keyboard under my hands for the moment

it is more like 30th july 2005, except our reaction lacked the energy we had back then.

I am shocked at the poor media coverage to the event
We used to get online photos faster than this
And this stupid report by reuters say the total was 30 protesters and 4 were arrested.. On what sense could the total be 30 if 35 were arrested?

Who was covering the event from Reuters?

The Palestinians have done it again. This time they have kidnapped a BBC journalist. Now how does that help their case , I don’t know , what do they gain by doing this , again I don’t know. What I do know is that they (the Palestinians will never miss a chance to screw themselves.
We have seen them over the years send suicide bombers onto buses while their elected leader (Arafat) was sitting negotiating. Kidnapping aid workers, journalists, setting fire to the British council office and planting a bomb in the Al arabiya office. Now they keep on saying they want the west to help them with their cause !!!! Why would anyone want to help them when they do stupid things like these . The government needs to get a grip on what is happening and the people have to wake up and smell the coffee.
would like to hear your opinion @http://egyptiankangaroo.blogspot.com/
