Bamha Update: Christians asked to forge statements

Egypt,Human Rights,in English — نورا @ 17:58

Wheras Al Masry Al Youm newspaper continues to report on Bamha ordeal and the cosmetic reconciliation, I received the following message today saying Egypt’s State Security asked Christian victims of Bamha to change their official testimonies and on-record complaints to accuse under-age Muslim children of violent attacks instead of real adults whom they had identified earlier. I am glad they refused.

Once again, here’s a minor update that took place yesterday..

A police vehicle, probably a small bus passed by all the Christians who filed cases against the attackers. The target was to group them, and send them all to the police station to sign “Tanazol 3an el Ma7dar” as agreed the day before.

At the police station, the officers told them that they should not sign the tanazol, instead, they should change their words. So instead of accusing the real criminals, they should accuse young under aged Muslim kids. The victims refused, and latter Motraneyet El Giza interfered again, but this time for their own sake, telling them to go home and not to sign any paper, whether tanazol or ta3’eer akwal. And promised to send lawyers to deal with the situation lest the poor and innocent people would sign anything against their own benefit.

Another point, is that the ministry of social affairs did not send any representatives to the village yesterday as promised, although they mentioned it many times in the media.

Yours;

R.W.
