Nour rolls up his sleeves ready for Parliment as Hemeida backs off
Amir Salem, prominent lawyer in Nour’s defense team, banged the desk probably taking advantage of finally finding a place to rest his palm as he rejected the court saying it is neither free nor fair “This is a marketplace, not a court room” he said. “I can’ t hear what is being said, I can’t speak, I can’t find a place to stand withought being pushed, and I can’t access the documents my client is suspected of forging. How am I supposed to defend my suspect?”
The defense team has asked for more time yesterday to be able to access the 2005 documents the suspects are accused of forging. However, the judge postponed for only one day, a matter that disappointed the defense team a great deal. Inspite of the gloomy look on Nour’s face yesterday, today he appeared powerful, angry and energetic. As couple of hundreds of el Ghad supporters demonestrated outside and security forces filled both inside and outside the court, Nour asked to speak for himself and was permitted to speak outside the cage. He said he rejects the court that is influenced by security forces and politically affiliated to the Egyptian administration, requesting a free and fair trial and condemning the judge’s passive position towards the accusations of the counter defense team of Nour forging his own birth cirtificate and doubting he is his father’s son, an accusation that took place during the July sessions.
“We have cut their hands and now they are left with no choice but refering the whole case to Cairo’s iste’naaf court” said Amir Salem. After more than a one hour break, the preblexed Judge came back to the room to announce the session will be continued tomorrow. The persistent Nour said he will send a representative to Court tomorrow and go himself to confront Mubarak at the Parliament in the swearing-in session. But this was not the only surprise today; Ragab Hilal Hemeida also showed up in court to support Nour saying Nour is an honorable man and would never be involved in an act of forgery. Hemeida also denied connection to the group working on the division or freezing of el Ghad party yet he said there are Israeli and American agents indise el Ghad whom he would work on seeing them out; most probably referring to Hisham Kassem who is Nour’s foreign minister and known of adopting pro US policies and good international relations and communication channels. Gameela Ismail and Nour suporters avoided Hemeida in the very small packed room. An air of unwelcoming surrounded him as he moved.
