Today there is a Sit In at el na2eb el 3aam office at 11am requesting freedom for the detainees.. It will last till interrogations end..

Latest news:
24 civilians to this moment are detained at El Darrasa Camp –illegitimate place to hold civilians- two of them are in bad condition.

Interrogations took place at neyabet amn el Dawla – Heliopolis – yesterday Sunday 31/7 and charges were:
اهلاك عربات الأمن المركزى
الاعتداء على ضباط وعساكر واصابتهم
ترديد هتافات تصم النظام بالفساد مما يحث على ازدراء النظام
تعطيل حركة المرور
التظاهر بدون تصريح

The third one I find the most stunning.. At some point in Egypt existed a charge called “ezderaa2 al adyaan” that chased and hindered intellects and banned frrdom of thought and expression.. Now it is shifted to “ezderaa2 el nizaam”.. Mubarak is now at the same level of religion!

Back to news:

Ahmed Seif El Islam, Human Rights activist and Lawyer says there is no evidence on these charges. The sentence will be a political one, rather than legal /criminal. The 24 detainees will go again today Monday 1 August to neyabet amn Dawla in Heliopolis for the sentence. It is highly expected that they get 15 days detention during which we don’t know what may happen. Torture for confessions!! Brutality for teaching a lesson of never do this again!! No clue..

And we may enter the chain of Dr. Essam El Eryan who has been detained for months and is getting a chain of renewals for his detention.

For those who got confused my detained brother is not Ahmed. He is Dr. Sherif Younis prof. in Helwan univ.

I guess it was his first or 2nd time in a demo and weired enough we both didn’t know the other is going!

I was demonstrating in Talaat Harb Street, clashes began and we were moving with the masses in waves going different directions and I found him there. We read the banners each is holding.. Mine had Mubarak Picture and on it Baatel.. His had No to Mubarak and a line I didn’t get to read because we were sweeped by a big wave of qowat amn el nizaam (aka amn markazy).. I found myself on the side walk together with 10 ppl 6 of which were women surrounded by qowat amn el nizaam who raised the big sticks and beat us with while tightening the circle.. We fell over each other.. Mariem was down there on her back with 3 ppl above her.. I could onle see her face and she raised to me one arm.. I myself was being squeezed my back to a window of a shop. The circle of amn markazy was invaded by plain cloth police who held shorter thick black sticks.. From my position back to the wall almost on my knees I could establish eye contact with some of them.. They had a target to achieve.. Their hands reached for the few ppl on the ground.. Their small black sticks came to our bodies with electric shocks.. Mariem was now losing breath.. I looked to the nearest amn markazy soldier to my right saying 7aram 3aliko.. and in a look of understanding he moved his body between us and the plain cloth police in an attempt of protection.. I could still have eye contacts with one of the plain cloth who stretched his arm in and down towards me.. grabed me from the hair and lifting me from the ground.. I was still holding Mariems arm and she was still down.. hands almost took off my Tshirt.. another hand was given to Mariem to stand up.. I don’t know how she moved the first 3 steps out of the circle because afterwards she totally collapsed.. she as she stood she could feel hands at her bottom. As we crawled out someone in plain cloth said “7amdella 3al salama.. 3ashan te7aramoo” .. Meters away a big tar7ilaat car drived through Talaat Harb Street with sound of ppl inside banging the walls.. I knew they were fellow demonstrators giving the rest a mssg.. We collapsed on the ground.. meters away.. and all the forces were there.. but demonstrators disappeared.. we could see few.. wounded ppl.. men and women..

Someone came with a cold bottle of water.. I washed Mariems face.. I asked who he is.. I didn’t trust anyone.. I was conscious not to trust who directed us to sit here or move there after my referendum experience.. I started putting the pictures together.. scenes now came back.. a fully stretched amn markazy arm holding a long wooden stick comes from up up in the air to the back of a fellow demonstrator.. another scene when the spaces were tighter and no place for sticks to move freely.. a plain cloth hand holding a short belt with a metal at the end and falling on arms, backs of people.. My physical pain started to rise.. my right foot.. both arms left leg..

I didn’t know what did I expect. We all knew it wouldn’t be easy to say No to Mubarak. I didn’t want to acknowledge but I even had the thought that someone may get killed.. The message was directly delivered from security to movements leaders.. Demonstrate, but not against Mubarak.. come up with as many candidates as you wish.. but don’t say No.

Nashwa, my sister in Law, was in the sit-in at lawyers syndicate yesterday with zawgaat el mo3taqaleen.. silent most of the time.. but with a faded smile and notable strength.. Though it is her first time in such a situation she found her way confidently.. She joined a group of detainees families who went to neyabet amn el Dawla and although everyone confirmed she will not be able to see her husband yet she was able to smuggle to him a bag of cloths and stuff she earlier prepared..

I have to run now to daar el qadaa2 el 3aaly.. will try to sit down and write more today..

PS: one of the funniest chants I heard in the last two days: لا لمبارك أب وابن، لا للفردة والاستبن

  1. They were released.. all of them..
El Na2eb El 3aam declared this to us after 5 hours of at least 200 people sit-in at his office:
اعتقلونا يا تفرجوا عنهم، احنا شركاا فى نضالهم …. معتصمين معتصمين، لحد ما ييجوا المعتقلين.. معتصمين والحق معانا، ضد حكومة بتتحدانا.. عايزين نيابة حرة.. شدوا حيلكم يا قضاة، خلصونا من الطغاة.. لو كان فيه حرية بحق، بنقولك يا مبارك لأ.. ويسقط يسقط حسنى مبارك..

We went to pick them up from El Darrasa Camp at around 9pm and I was shocked as the General pressured us to re-pay the bail of LE3200 once more although the lawyers had paid it earlier in neyabet amn el dawla.

In all their good spirit, they reunioned at the lawyers syndicate with families and friends.. Stories of detention, sit in, عربية الترحيلات، استجوابات النيابة، etc.. all with gateaux from youth for change and طبق حلويات شرقية نقاوة علاء and analysis of the situation and next steps from Seif El Islam, their lawyer.

As good byes were exchanged, confirmations to meet again the following day -tuesday- 7pm in tallat harb demonestration.. ما هو حقنا ومش هنسيبه
