Nasr City District
Nast City Police Station
The turn out was very poor at Nasr City electoral district. The poll station, located at the police station, which consisted of five sub-polls all in one room had 7514 listed voters out of which only 1044 showed up. In side the poll station there were no violations where each voter used the pink card, dipped his finger in the phosphoric ink. But outside the station; campaigning for Mubarak was just as close as the poll station door in pictures, badges, T-shirts. The NDP supporters accompanied the voters who came in groups in and out of the poll station.

Large numbers of voters were not allowed to vote although they have the national ID number, and are supposed to be automatically listed. At the very same location a sign hanged to the wall said ID is enough for voting. Non NDP members did not find their names in the list, and were not allowed to vote with their ID and were very angry.

Ahmed Essam-el-Deen said “I did not find my name neither in this list nor in the other lists. They told me to go search lists in other poll stations, I am very disappointed.”

Ahmed Mostafa Maher said “I obtained my national ID number from this police station. I am sure I should be listed here. Now I did not find my name in the lists. I went to the judge responsible for the poll station and he said that no way for me to vote if I am not listed and the only solution for me is to wait for the coming elections!!”

Sameh Ibrahim Ahmed said “I am 22 years old. I have the right to vote. I heard the Interior Minister deputy more than once declaring and confirming that those who were born between 1983 and 1986 can vote using only their ID because they are automatically listed in voters lists.”

Other non-NDP youngsters had same comments and faced the same problem, examples are:
Mr. Mohamed Sami Abbas
Ms. Safia Abdalla el-Wekeel
Ms. Sara Mostafa el-Hodary
Mr. Mahmoud Aly Hussein
Ms. Sara Said
Mr. Mohamed Refaat Kamel
Mr. Ameen Adel Mohamed
Mr. Mohamed Abdalla Mostafa
Mr. Tamer Aly Abdel Rahman,
Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan el Shafei
Mr. Mostafa Mohamed Hassan el Shafei
Mr. Gamal el-Deen Ahmed Farag
Mr. Mohamed Yasser Mohamed Said
Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Hussein
Mr. Mohamed Khaled el Hodeiby
Mr. Mohamed Osama el Sheikh

and many others.

After 10pm the counting started and the results were:

NDP Candidate – El Ghad Candidate
Poll #1 127 – 52
Poll #2 372 – 109
Poll #3 142 – 68
Poll #4 57 – 18
Poll #5 73 – 26
Total 771 – 273

After the day was over I learned that some other poll stations allowed non-listed voters to vote only with their ID.

  1. I went to Nasr City Police Station, after I heard that I can get a replacement for my “lost” card, but they won’t let me (met your mom! thank her a lot for me please, she was really helpful :)). I noted the large number of youth (born on 1982 and after and said to be automatically listed in the voters lists), most of them were not allowed to vote or were sent to other committees or faraway districts. I was really pleased with the number of youth, however, those who managed to really vote were few.

I went inside the committee itself and talked to the judge to let me vote with my ID card but he totally refused.

I’m trying to write down more about Nadi el-Sekka el-Hadid committee (the one I was monitoring with others) and upload the photos I got today hopefully.
