Although it is the first governorate to announce results, North Sinai can’t be measured as an indicator. It has its own special status of being anti-mubarak and this may explain the low participation. Also, civil monitors reports are not yet available on violations.

  1. Wow.
Nour did pretty well, really well in a district he doesn’t really count on. They probably voted for him just out of hatred of the current regime. What do you think?

I’m surprised at the number of invalid votes. Is this a regular % or this is Ekhwany effect?

  2. How come 39,000 showed up when the totals for the above numbers is 49635 ?

Anyways, here are the results in percentage.
    Invalid votes 23.6%
    Mubarak 63.1%
    Nour 10.7%
    Gomaa 1.9%
    The rest 0.6%

  3. Do not forget that Nour went to Al Arish in his campaign and made a fairly good speech capitalising on the brutality of the Regime (Mubarak)
http://www.al-ahaly.com/articles/05-08-17/1241-fst05.htm -this is a very good article and well informed as I live in the area- and that is why he got all these votes and I think he has more votes than this but in these distant Governorate the supervision of the votes is weack. And expect this to happen in El Nouba, Port Said (either Nour or Gomaa but the Regime knew that this could happen and hence No REAL judges in the Voing committees in this City).

  4. Well, North Sinai is quite a different place than the rest of Egypt, I had the luck to work on the archaeological sites there for sometime. People there simply don’t care about who is the president, they don’t bother about the law.
They are dividied into several tribes, as Sawarka, Tarabeen…etc.
Each tribe has its own president who is selected by age. They have their own law, their own judges, and their own punishments. So, really for them it is a -no issue- who is the President of Egypt, because that wouldn’t change their life whatsoever.
