Under threats, blogger Monem reveals his torturer

Blogger and friend Monem, who was just released from Torah prison in June 2007, reveals the name of officer Atef el-Hosseiny who alledgedly tortured him for 13 days in Nasr City state security HQ back in 2003.

Monem says officer el-Hosseiny, and Ahmed Moussa, the Ahram journalist with close ties to security services, are orchestrating together his re-detention. Moussa has published in al-Ahram issue of last Saturday that Monem is the Ikhwan delegate to infiltrate the independent newspaper al-Dostur, without citing names. Moussa also published information obtained from police reports filed by el-Hosseiny.

Again, Monem is facing detention threats. Both as part of the State’s clensing of political activists from the Egyptian scene and also for reporting on torture. Moussa accused blogger of falsely campaigning against torture using cell phone cameras. Monem had published on You Tube and on his blog, ana Ikhwan, a cell phone video of the 12 year old Mansura kid who was tortured to death.

Below video was produced by Malek for the International Campaign to Free Monem during his most recent detention April – June 2007.
